Mrs. B from NYC
I started Hormone Replacement Therapy 7 years ago (2000). I went to my PCP (Primary care Physician) and asked if I could
start hormones for my physical changes. I started on Premarin (the purple pill and the yellow pill- Estrogen) and spironolactin
( Testosterone blocker). Since I had other health issues, I had to take the Premarin until I was able to get my other
health concerns under control. In 2004 I was able to start taking Delestrogen injections. With the Delestrogen I have been
able to develop breast (about a B cup), soften/ slow down body hair growth including facial hair, soften my muscles, fill
out my hips/butt and help feminize my face. The only side effects that I have had are: hot flashes, increased appetite and
lowered my sex drive. After being on hormone replacement therapy for all of these years my Testosterone level is significantly
decrease to about a 0 (Normal range is 500- 1000 for Male bodied individuals).
I have had ups and downs living my life as a heterosexual female. I was able to acquire appropriate housing, employment,
went back to school and eventually worked to change my name on all of my documentation. I was also able to have the sex marker
on my state id changed from M to F. Life as a woman of Trans experience is still a struggle sometimes as well as expensive.
A good portion of my money still goes towards make-up, getting my nails done, getting my hair done and maintaining a high
quality wardrobe.
Right now I am working on getting a Female marker on my passport and trying to go to school again so that I might be able
to continue furthering my career.
